According to a report by WABetaInfo, the Android beta users of the app — version 2.20.171 — will now be able to easily share their contact details with others through customised QR codes.
Android beta users will be able to find their own custom QR codes in the Settings section of the app on the top right side in front of the name and profile picture.
Tapping on the QR code will open a new window with two sections — My Code and Scan Code. By default, the window opens to the former, where they see their number, are of account and QR code. On the same window, they will get an option to share it with others through different apps.
On the same window, there will be an option to reset this QR code. This should be used when you want to disable a previously shared QR code as that code and invite link will cease to work. WhatsApp users will rest their QR codes as many times as they’d want.
Tapping on the scan Code option will open the camera of the smartphone where it will open an introductory screen showing how the scanning will work. At the bottom, users will also get the option to access their photo gallery in case they want to access a QR code saved in their photo library.
There is no word on when the company will roll out this feature publicly on both Android and iOS platforms.
