Now, a new report by Digitimes suggests that Apple AirPods Studio have gone into production, hinting that a launch may happen in the next few months. The report cites sources which said, “As Apple is likely to accelerate dropping its wired earphones, the vendor will resume normal shipments for AirPods 2 in the second half of the year and its new over-ear headphones, dubbed AirPods Studio, has also kicked off production, all securing growth momentum for rigid-flex boards suppliers for the devices, including Unitech Printed Circuit Board and Compeq Manufacturing.”
Digitimes has a mixed bag record when it comes to Apple-related leaks and rumours.
However, Jon Presser, who has become a prolific source of Apple leaks, has also suggested that Apple’s over-the-ear headphones may be called AirPods Studio. Presser took to Twitter last week to share this piece of information. He tweeted, “Looks like Apple is sticking with the “AirPods” branding for their new over-ear headphones.”
He further mentioned in the tweet that they will be called AirPods Studio and have the codename B515. Presser also mentioned in his tweet that the rumoured AirPods Studio will be priced at $349 (roughly Rs 26,350).
These two leaks combined do suggest that the AirPods Studio are very much in the pipeline. If they do launch then it will be the first product in the space where Bose and Sony are established players.
